The Top Catch Way: A Legacy in Every Strike

We honor the heroes who restored our rivers by becoming the next generation of guardians.

Through the Science of the Strike, we empower today’s anglers to land river monsters while ensuring our waters remain abundant for years to come.

A Debt of Thanks

In the 1960s, our rivers were dying and toxic.

We are deeply thankful to those who fought to bring the fish back, and we respect the hard work that made today’s trophy catches in our backyards possible.

We have heard the stories of the Cuyahoga River on fire and "dead zones" where no life could survive.

People worked hard to pass laws to clean our water. We owe it to them to keep our rivers healthy. We will never go backward.

We now have a world-class fishery in our own backyards. We owe it to those pioneers to never go backward and to keep the "Great Restoration" alive.

The Science of the strike, smell, taste, feel and sight

Master the Biology (The Science of the Strike)

We believe you best bait is understanding the fish you are chasing.

A trophy fish is a sensory machine. To land a monster, you must understand how it uses scent, taste, sight, and vibration to track prey, and how that intersects with the moving water and structure of a living river.

We refer to this as the Science of the Strike.

The river is alive with movement, from the jagged rocks on the bottom to the debris floating in the mid-column. We study how a predator’s senses filter through this chaos to find a meal.

By understanding this intersection, we developed our Suspended Bait Drift System. Instead of letting your gear get lost in the debris of the riverbed, we use the river's own physics to keep your bait suspended in the "strike zone."

We don't just put a hook in the water; we synchronize your presentation with the sensory triggers of the fish and the natural flow of the living river.

Performance Engineering (The Gear)

We reject gear designed to be lost.

We build gear that stays out of debris. Our FATKAT bobber is shaped like a boat's keel to provide balance through fast water. It works with our steel sinkers to keep your bait steady. This means you spend less time fixing tangles and more time catching fish.

Wasting time on the river and wasting money on lost gear is something we refer to as the "Retying Tax." We engineer around the snag.

Our ogive shaped FATKAT bobber reduces drag in heavy current, while acting as the keel of the rig. When paired with the inline steel sinker, which acts as the ballast, they stabilize the rig in current, presenting bait in it's natural form.

The Inline Bait Suspension System allows the angler to adjust bait depths as it drifts over snags that claim other gear. If the river does win and a rig is lost, our weight is made of non-toxic steel, and our bobber of eco-friendly materials which return to nature safely.

A Shared Responsibility (The Future)

We love the river, but we admit that anglers can be part of the problem.

We are changing our impact by picking up what others leave behind and choosing materials that protect the water.

It is disheartening to see "ghost line" and plastic on the banks. A true FATKAT hunter leaves the water better than they found it.

By moving away from lead and using eco-friendly steel, we ensure that the "river monsters" of the future have a clean home to grow in.
